Nails, please!

Lately I have been going on a nail frenzy. I have been obsessing over nail polish colors and how to paint them a certain way. I would prefer to do my own nails and feel proud of myself, then to go get them done. But then again, it's nice to get pampered while getting a manicure! My mom took me to Ulta yesterday and I spent an hour looking at the nail polish colors. I had about seven colors in my bad, and then I realized I would be spending all of my money on nail polish. I looked into the bad and decided I Would have to make it down to two. So I finally settled to two gorgeous colors. One was from OPI and it was from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection. This was on sale for about half of its original price. What a steal! The color was Mermaid's Tears. The color is a deep baby blue that has been tinted with a sad grey. Thus making it appear a lost and sad shade. The next color is a dark ember color from China Glaze. It's called Fireside Glow. The shade has sparkly glitter in it, showing off the "glow" in the name. I was just about to leave because I was just wrapping up looking at the displays. I usually only look at the top display, but this time I looked at the second display underneath this tacky pink display. I froze, because the colors were unbelievable. The brand is called Orly. I don't know if they have done other collections, but this collection I was looking at was unbelievable. The collection is themed as outer space. Each color actually made you think that those were the colors of the milkyway and stars. There were two colors that caught my attention. I didn't get the name of it, but it was this fantastic blue. It was deep in the blue, but as soon as you shook it, the blue became vivid and bright, but held the dark base. As soon as it was shaken, yellow sparks show. It was gorgeous. The next polish was this outstanding deep purple. The polish inside the bottle was striped with a shiny grey in the middle. I shook the bottle and the grey dispersed and a sudden gold appeared scattered throughout the bottle. The grey and the gold stood out in the dark purple, and it basically put me in a galactic trance. Sounds weird, right? Well, needless to say I bought the purple and it is called Rock the World. I was disappointed that the bottle was ten dollars, but hey, I loved it so I bought it! I came home and I painted my toes with the Mermaid's Tears. The color is gorgeous. I wanted to paint my nails, but I had work soon and I didn't want them to chip so soon. So I painted them after work. And I asked my mom if she could French tip my nails with the Fireside Glow. Like the loving mother my mom is, she did and they turned out beautiful.

These are the nail polishes I used for my nails:
And the nail polishes I bought yesterday:
Well, I was able to vent about my obsession of nail polish! I'll probably update next week with my new nails ;)

The Goodbye

I've grown up in this town since I was seven. I have been n the Bridlegate ward since I was 8. Eight years later... I'm no longer there. The ward splitting is so bittersweet. I've always fantasied that I would move out of the ward. And hey, I got what I wanted! But it's sinking in what it means. I've gotten the opportunity to love everyone in my Sunday school class. I've gotten to love my young women's leaders. And I have gotten to love my bishop times ten. And most importantly, I've grown to love and cherish my home teachers. They're diligent in coming every month. Clayton broke his arm, and he came the next week even though he was still in some pain. I usually bake for them and they love my baking, which makes me love them more! But the talks we had and the lessons they shared were extraordinary. We seriously had them in the house for an hour and a half. Our family just talks and talks with them! After I processed that I was in a new ward, I immediately thought of them. And I thought of my leaders. Of course as soon as my favorite leader moves back in, I leave! But our hone teachers came over without any notice and came to say goodbye. We were all in tears. I'm starting to water while typing this! I truly have a testimony of home teachers and the blessings they bring to families. The lyric "I'll go where you want me to go, dear Lord" is on repeat in my head. This will be benefitful and a change needed. It's good to get to know different people. Brother Christensen shook my shoulder and said, "Embrace it." I will. This is what I wanted, a change. So I'm going head first into this new ward.

Last Friday Night...Dang!

Yesterday, my friend Mckenna and I decided it'd be a great time to ask to winterformal. My date was very last minute. But I think it'll be fun. I've known him for forever and we're in the same ward! Mckenna asked my other friend who is my ward also. It's the best.
So anyways.. I asked with a bucket of candy, my name spelt out on boxes of nerds, with a poster that said: It'd be sweet if you went to winterformal with me!
And hers was, "This is not trick, but it'd be a treat if  you'd go to winterformal with me!"
But we asked my guy first since he was out of the house and her guy was just coming home. So we decide to kill time and go see our friends that are at the park. So we talk and talk, and then a police car rolls up.. Yay! It's past ten. Curfew!

He just checked our licenses... which I don't have. I have my permit! I'm so cool...
But we got off the hook and everything. Then we we go to ask Mckenna's guy. She puts the stuff on in front of his door, gets in the car and signals me to ring it. So I do, and run so fast it's ridiculous, and we ZOOM. And after she turns into the next street, text from Jared! "Was that you?"
You for real?! Ah! We were so mad. So we just lied and said we weren't there. But obviously we were!

Yeah... it was an interesting night. At least I got four shirts and a purse all for $40! We went on a shopping spree. BLAST. We literally shopped until we dropped.

Just Another Trial

I think one of the biggest thing that has happened to me this month, has been the biggest trial I have gone through. But I prayed every day in thanks for the trial. What makes us stronger are these trials.
And after a couple of weeks ago, I realized that I suck as a friend! I just always goof around and say "I love you" but I don't really try and get out of my comfort zone to check up on my friends.

I know I can give dirty looks and annoyed looks to my friends, and that's something I really need to work on personally. Friendship is what helps makes us who we are. My friends are making me the person I'm going to be in the future.

Humbleness. I think the events of the past couple of weeks have hit me hard, and it's make me become more grateful to my friends. How do I show every friend I love them sincerely?

For me, I get annoyed by the SLIGHTEST things ever. Seriously, it's a problem. I think patience is a virtue, but I don't really have it... So that's something I need to work on.
This is just a vent about how I need to become a better friend.

But hey, starting yesterday, I'm going to make friendship work. Love everyone, be Christ-like. It's my goal.  I'm going to try and make sure I'm kind to everyone and not be judgmental.

Hugs and Kisses xoxo :)

Question? Yes.

So, I am doing my math online.
Yes, online. IS it difficult? Slightly, yes. Because they explain it so well I actually get it when I don't want to so I frustrate myself and do not want to learn it.
Yes, I am contradicting myself.
Yes, I am bored.
Yes, I do not want to do my lesson today.
Goodness.
I saw Shea yesterday.
That was good.
One liners are the best.
Pun.
Boredom?.
Yes.
I would like to make this sound like my diary.
With out being too personal.
Aha! That's silly.
Silly, me.
Honestly.

Create your own Fortune

This is the recipe I used for the fortune cookies! Talk about super easy, right? Start out with two at a time until you finally get good at it! I made about twenty four in the end:)

2 large egg whites
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
8 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 teaspoons water

Preparation:

1. Write fortunes on pieces of paper that are 3 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease 2 9-X-13 inch baking sheets.

2. In a medium bowl, lightly beat the egg white, vanilla extract, almond extract and vegetable oil until frothy, but not stiff.

3. Sift the flour, cornstarch, salt and sugar into a separate bowl. Stir the water into the flour mixture.

4. Add the flour into the egg white mixture and stir until you have a smooth batter. The batter should not be runny, but should drop easily off a wooden spoon.
Note: if you want to dye the fortune cookies, add the food coloring at this point, stirring it into the batter. For example, I used 1/2 teaspoon green food coloring to make green fortune cookies.

5. Place level tablespoons of batter onto the cookie sheet, spacing them at least 3 inches apart. Gently tilt the baking sheet back and forth and from side to side so that each tablespoon of batter forms into a circle 4 inches in diameter.

6. Bake until the outer 1/2-inch of each cookie turns golden brown and they are easy to remove from the baking sheet with a spatula (14 - 15 minutes).

7. Working quickly, remove the cookie with a spatula and flip it over in your hand. Place a fortune in the middle of a cookie. To form the fortune cookie shape, fold the cookie in half, then gently pull the edges downward over the rim of a glass, wooden spoon or the edge of a muffin tin. Place the finished cookie in the cup of the muffin tin so that it keeps its shape. Continue with the rest of the cookies.

Surprise:)

So I am at rehearsal. It was a long rehearsal, and I was having a bad day. I was ready to punch a pillow. So I get home and I'm about to tell my mom I'm going to take a nap. I go into the hallway and see this bright poster on my door :)

There was a shirt and it had a bunch of names on it! I washed it and the name of the guy stayed on. Parker! Dude. Talk about a bad day gone freaking fantastic! So I answered back later on in the night since we were both going to Bryton's surprise party and he lives in the same neighborhood.

I made fortune cookies! They were the regular color, green, turquoise, and blue! I thought I did a good job.  There were three cookies that had the answer. One cookie said: I would be and the other said: fortunate to go and the third said: to homecoming with you! and I left a paper that said: crack open these cookies to see if fortune favors you! Ah man, it was pretty bomb:)

Not only was THIS a surprise, but so was Bryton's party! I kid you not, there were at least thirty people there at one point. We turned off the lights, tuned up the Dubstep, and hit the strobe light and had a dance party in the kitchen. Talk about trippy stuff. Then we got out of hand so we had to go into his living room, and it was a freaking blast. After, Bryton, Madie, and I went into the backyard and had a whipcream and banana smoothie war. Oh my gosh. I am so glad that my bad day went great. Talk about a surprising day! The only not surprising thing of the day was: Highland lost it's first game. Figures! We kinda suck. Anyways, I am soooo freaking stoked for homecoming!!! I love life.

Peachra

I am in a student directed one act. This means that the one act is directed by a student, and is a play that is condensed into forty minutes or less. Ours is abbot thirty minutes. The play is about this guy named Thomas Stockman (my husband) who discovers that this place called Kirsten Springs is contaminated. His brother Peter Stockman, who is the mayor, claims that he is trying to destroy this town by shutting down its number one source of income. The cast is...

Dr. Thomas Stockman: Bryton Smith

Mayor (Peter): Justin Whipple (he goes by Whipple/ Whips)

Catherine Stockman: Shanell Davidsen

Petra Stockman: Madie Thatcher

Mr.Billings: Kendall Olsen

Mr.Hovstad: Cassi Kinnear

Captain: Amy Peterson

Citizens: Victoria Bradford
                some chic (I don't know!)
                some chic (I don't know!)

Drunk: Mandy Something (Love her though!)

So.... Bryton doesn't even know how to pronounce Madie's character's name...which is his daughter. He pronounces it like peach-rah. When it's actually peh-ch- (not the "kuh" sound) rah. Great dad/husband right? So now Madie claims she is out of wedlock. The Whipple says he is the father... Oh gosh. After a week, I finally announce Bryton is the father.. Whipple makes that statement again. Let's just say.. Rehearsal is so much fun. The one act is SO much fun. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with my life right after this is done... One more week left! Next Friday= show time!

Ahhhh! I love the cast:) I hope this is going to be able to go to Festival. It'd be the best!

Theatre kids are always there for you, no matter what. They're my family.

Walking Around

So today was such a hectic day. My dad wakes me up, and I find out I have an hour to get myself ready, shower my brothers, dress them, and be ready for my grandma to pick us up. My grandma has a tradition of taking us school supply shopping. So
She was taking the "younger" group and I was going because my aunt Sally was takin me out after. During that hour, the counselor called two times because I neededy schedule changed. Finally on the third call... I answer. Anyways! We went shopping, my aunt took me and my cousins to get feathers in our hair. They're presh! And I got teal tinsel underneath too. I'm already in school spirit! :) After that, she took us to Sprinkles Cupcakes. Um...heaven on earth!!! I still need to try my cupcake, but we got six of them and tried every one except the one I haven't eaten yet. We got Red Velvet, Dark Chocolate Banana, Carrot Cake, Key Lime Pie, Salty Caramel(mine!), and cherry. They were all divine. Red Velvet, yummmers! And their Key Lime Pie cupcake tastes way better than the pie!! Yummy. I love cupcakes:) So after, we get froyo. Frozen yogurt! I'm already stuffed... But in the end I got some. I was a good way to end the trip! And they gave out Hello Kitty spoons! It was my first childhood obsession. It was brilliant. So now I am home babysitting. I talked on the phone with some cool people for an hour! It was splendid:) Tiring, but great say!

Biggest Boredom in Life

Some may think that sitting and watching tv is boring, or doing nothing is boring. But let me assure you, nothing is more boring than doing an online class. Especially if it is for history. Sure, there are fun things to learn about, don't get me wrong. I loved learning about the fifties! But that was only one lesson. Within the three months of vacation, I will have done sixty history lessons and twelve essays. I seriously can NOT wait for this to be over. J probably should stop complaining and do my work... But I feel like this is important. Oh! And I'm tired. I watched a video on MLK Jr., and I practically fell asleep. Primavera... I'm glad I'm going to a public school because you are BORING!

Second blog: success

Goals for today:
Practice piano
Blog
Make coconut cupcakes
Make my brother wear lipgloss
Get to lesson 28..

The Start

Last night I was at my friend's house. Her name is Alyssa Tyler. I'm not even sure if I should call her a friend.. she is more like the best friend I never had! I finally have a ward best friend! Anyways, I was at her house and we made this! She has been talking about blogging so why not give it a try? :)

I usually take naps after I get home from church until four. I'm giving up my time to do this! It's alright. I'm already sleep deprived. So I guess the first post is always an introduction about the poster's life. WELL...

I'm Shanell Davidsen.
I have a pet bird named Sammy, who I just adore and love! He's a boy, and I'm basically his mother since I've had him since he was a month old. This sounds weird, but I want to marry a guy just like my bird! One who is always loud, but is quiet when needed. Big on cuddling! The bird always is a cuddlier. Ah! he's to die for :) Alright, this sounds weird. I'm weird! so It's okay. This bird is like one of the best things that has happened to me in my life. He even made my testimony of the gospel stronger. Weird, huh? He can't even talk or anything! But it was this one experience with him where he almost died, and I was praying so fervently. He also taught me from that experience... listen to the Holy Ghost!

I have some of the best friends in the world. I'm a social butterfly, I don't really "have" a group. I can move from one group to the other. And for that reason, I feel like I know a ton of people! Lately I have been hanging out with some amazing people. Yes.. they're all guys minus Alyssa.. which can make things awkward for me at times, but I feel like they're the older brothers I never had and want. I don't want to be the oldest, so I'm glad for my guy friends!

I love baking! I recently had a cupcake party with all my friends and we dropped some off at my friend Shea's house. He enjoyed them :) I want to be an owner of a cupcake business when I group up. I love baking. It's my addiction. Some people have addictions to watching grass grow, smoking grass, or playing video games... mine is baking! I will post some pictures up sometime :)

Anyways, I think I'm going to go sit in my bed. I want a laptop. This is actually fun. It's like having a conversation with yourself, which reminds me of my friend Jacob Hall. He stayed up for two hours talking to himself on Facebook. What a funny guy!

This is actually him on the left! the top middle is Junior Kerby! Love him! He's the big brother I never had. Bottom middle, Alyssa Tyler! The best friend! To the right, the writer/typer of this blog! Yeah!

First blog: Success! :)
